ZGram - Where Truth is Destiny
November 17, 2002
Good Morning from the Zundelsite:
I am running a two-part ZGram to introduce my readers to a thoughtful
patriot publication called The Nationalist Times and its editor,
attorney Don Wassall. It is the party organ of the American
Nationalist Union describes itself as the Voice of the Real America.
It comes out monthly and features many articulate, observant writers
not found in other publications.
The first ZGram is an editorial in the September 2002 issue, titled
"The War on Non-Conformity":
[START]
One year after the horrifying events of September 11, the "War on
Terrorism" has settled in to be two wars actually: one, a war on
Islam and the Arab world; and two, a war on non-conformity at home.
The war against non-conformity is much more subtle than the quite
overt war against the Arab countries, who are lumped together as
supporters of terrorists or as terrorists in the making, who hate the
United States because "it's a democracy" blah-blah-blah. In the
aftermath of September 11, many feared there would be wholesale
smashing of dissent of any kind. That hasn't happened at all, at
least to Americans. The non-citizen Arabs who have been rounded up
and held indefinitely would disagree, but their lack of citizenship
does indeed deprive them of many of the rights of Americans.
If anything, there is more dissent than ever in America these days,
but almost none in the "official organs" of the media or in
government institutions. The paradox of today is that the official
political system, as expressed through the two monopoly parties, is
almost as monolythic as any one-party system, while at the grassroots
level, America remains a vast land amazingly factionalized by race,
religion, politics, lifestyles, value systems etc.
At the official level, conformity reigns. What is more alarming is
that the last month has seen the end of the careers of three real
mavericks in Congress - Congressman Jim Traficant, Bob Barr, and
Cynthia McKinney.
The three had very different views, though Traficant and Barr had a
fair amount in common. Traficant was the conscience of the House, a
fearless independent who dared to severely criticize the IRS and many
other sacred cows.
Barr was in the forefront of the impeachment drive against Bill
Clinton, and was particularly good on privacy issues.
McKinney was a radical liberal, but was so far left as to be outside
"respectable establishment opinion." Thus she earned the enmity of
the Jewish Lobby, and of the entire establishment by being the only
member of Congress to ask hard questions about the events of 9/11.
McKinney's most serious "crime against conformity" came on March 25
of this year, when on KPFA radio in Berkeley, California, she said
the following:
"We know there were numerous warnings of the event to come on
September 11...What did this administration know and when did it know
it about the events of September 11? Who else knew, and why did they
not warn the innocent people of New York who were needlessly murdered?
"Persons closed to this administration are poised to make huge
profits off America's new war. Former President Bush sits on the
board of the Carlyle Group. The Los Angeles Times reports that on a
single day last month, Carlyle earned $237 million selling shares in
United Defense Industries, the Army's fifth-largest contractor. The
stock offering was well-timed. Carlyle officials say they decided to
take the company public only after the September 11 attacks. The
stock sales cashed in on increased congressional support and hefty
defense spending."
Maybe McKinney's implications are sheer nonsense and wild
conspiracy-type thinking. But, truly, what is so terrible about the
questions she asked, given the scope of the tragedy of 9/11 and given
that this is supposed to be a free country? Every possible angle,
every possible clue, every legitimate theory should be carefully
explored. Instead, we were fed an "official" story within minutes
after the attack that has never varied, and all the evidence, just as
the Waco and Oklahoma City crime scenes, was destroyed. If the
administration has nothing to hide, then that would be made clear by
a thorough investigation. Instead, what we have, again, is endless
alternative theories, and widespread confusion, distrust and fear.
What Americans must do is protect and enhance their Internet-fueled
freedom alternatives while and until a political movement is forged
that breaks through the two-party monopoly of Conformity. Given the
continuing crumbling of the international financial system, that day
just may be nearer than many think.
