Good Morning from the Zundelsite:

We definitely have a problem with the ZGrams. Yesterday my server tried to get to the bottom of it all, and it seems that somehow Sprint and Europe are involved. My server doesn't know if this is by design or by default, but there is definitely a problem. This morning I found that one-third of yesterday's ZGrams bounced back.

Of course, having been made jittery by the January cyberstorm that was set off in Europe by the announced "Holocaust" debate with Nizkor, immediately I thought: "Well, here we go again!"

For, not too coincidentally, I had been busy for the last fews days with m= y Toronto counterpart to fine-tune an important document called "The Heritage Front Affair Report-Exposed!" which he had shipped to me but which had not been made available as yet for Internet consumption.

Only he and I knew it was there.

"The HF Affair Report" is a fascinating document commissioned by the Canadian government-and, hence, paid for by the long-suffering Canadian taxpayer-whose purpose is to smear the Right by "documenting racist threats" in general and Zündel in particular, along with other folks, by nothing more than mere proximity to, and association with, some factions of the Right.

As you may recall, the charge made is that Zündel is a ". . . threat to the security of Canada".

His counter-argument, of course, is that it isn't he who is the threat-it's those with a Marxist/Leftist agenda, of whom there are a too many nesting in cushy jobs in the Canadian government where they are hatching mischief.

What is so interesting about the "HF Affair Report" is that these "threats", as documented by the civilian spy agency the government employs, according to the affidavits that Ernst is busily collecting, were largely concocted by that agency that had a vested interest in highlighting these "threats".

Why?

Well, all kinds of reasons come to mind-one obvious reason being that a bureaucracy whose raison d'etre is to monitor such threats-where maybe none exist!-could find itself without a job if some sage soul caught on.

Thus, by creating "threats", an enterprising agency could thus reap double benefits-not only justifiying its existence, but reaping brownie points by jumping in to neutralize the "threat".

(Some time ago my son told me that one the punks in his school had pushed a small child into a pool and then, with great ado, had "rescued" the poor kid from drowning-and, presto! A punk was now a hero! The Rotary Club proved that by a dinner in his honor and a plaque that showed his name! )

It is not that hard to fashion that kind of scenario. You move in a mole with the intent of egging some ethnically frustrated, disenfranchised kids into establishing an actual record of these "threats"-and there you are, with a job the community hails and rewards.

This actually happened with Heritage Front, a Right Wing organization, and was partially exposed already in 1994, largely through the detective work of one Bill Dunphy of the Toronto Sun-certainly no friend of Ernst's but apparently a competent reporter.

That mole's name was Grant Bristow, and the story has partially been told in the mainstream media and in parliament. The rest is yet to come, and it is the beginning of what is shaping up as "Zundelgate."

I read through that HF Report yesterday. It is a scary piece of writing, especially when juxtaposed to notarized testimony to the contrary. A Perry Mason plot.

That's all I want to say for now. But just imagine that you are a person who feels your country isn't what it used to be. Your treasures are being usurped, your interests and rights are trampled upon. You have a son or daughter who happens to agree with you, who wants to organize politically to help reclaim what is his or her birthright.

Next thing you know is this: He or she falls into the hands of somebody whom you have on your "payroll" through your taxes who gets your offspring to do things that go against your interests-and, not too incidentally, his or her own best interests as well.

When Ernst first realized that he would have to take on the "Heritage Front Affair Report" because it is the instrument the government will use against him, Stalin-fashion-secret "sources," secret meetings, secret accusations, secret documents-he said to me in a late-night call and in a voice so even that it jolted me a bit:

"This is treason. At the highest levels of government."

And I said: "Ernst, what are you going to do?"

And Ernst said very quietly: "I drove by their new headquarters. A building worth $200 million. I am only one man. I am runnung out of my nine lives. But believe me, I'll do what I can."

As many of my friends and not a few of my enemies know, I am an ingrained skeptic when it comes to conventional religion. Specifically, I have distrusted Christianity with every instinct in my body ever since I was a little child and found out that I was forbidden to eat from that one tree in the Garden of Eden-the fruit that holds the key to knowledge about good and evil.

It's been a looming question mark for as long as I can remember. Why not? Why am I not allowed to know what's good-and what is evil? I want to find out for myself. I won't take anybody else's word for what IS good and evil. I will not have that dictated to me.

But I have a good friend who is not merely a Christian but a Seventh-Day-Adventist who has been after me for quite some time to turn myself into a Seventh-Day-Adventist, too. My-is Lorraine persistent! You never saw such zeal. She has spent hours on the phone to help me see the light. With that in mind, she has already given me two modern versions of the Bible since I had mentioned once that the arcane, archaic and largely anemic language of the Bible turned me off.

And worse, the newer versions are dreadfully mundane and boring because the language of the Gospel has been butchered mortally. I'd rather read King James.

I called Lorraine yesterday, after having finished reading that report, and asked her to fax me a King James version of the Samson story-the one where with brute strength and nothing else, a man named Samson grasps both pillars of the temple of the usurers and brings it crashing down.

It came posthaste, and here is what I read:

". . . and even though they say . . . "call for Samson, that he may make us sport. . . ' Samson said, '. . . Suffer me, that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them. . . '"

It's been a long, long time since I delved into Gospel stories such as Samson who brought the pillars of corruption down and buried the wicked beneath. I had forgotten that Samson was blind-that he had nothing but his feel, because his enemies had gouged out both his eyes.

And when I read that passage, I thought: "How poignant. And how true. Ernst does this for his people. And his own people's eyes have long since been gouged out."

A couple of weeks ago, I had breakfast with a ZGram reader who helps me with my research. And he-apparently a real agnostic, too-told me this story from the Bible which I had also long forgotten where Jesus spits into the dirt and thereby makes a potion to rub into the eyes of a blind man to restore sight in him.

Is that the message here? Dirt in our eyes-that we may see? The spectacle of one man's instincts against the pillars holding up corruption?

Lorraine would say there's hope yet for this persnickety die-hard when it comes to accepting that this is not a struggle we have to take on by ourselves with every ounce our own intelligence and reason can command-that this is verily the age-old classic wrestling match in the galactic spheres that every sage and prophet has forecast.
