Good Morning from the Zundelsite:

Sometimes the shoe is on the other foot - the question is: will it create a blister? Here is today's press release, hot off the faxes of the Zundel-Haus:
Mordecai Ben-Dat, Editor
Canadian Jewish News
1500 Don Mills Road, Suite 205
North York, Ont M3B 3K4

RE: "Letters to the Editor: Soap made from Shoah victims." Canadian Jewish News, December 4, 1997, p. 8

Dear Mr. Ben-Dat:

I find it disgusting and outrageous that you would print a Letter to the Editor regurgitating the long-disproven blood libel and hate mongering against the German people - namely that the "Nazis" made soap from Jewish "Holocaust" victims.

Less than two months ago, on October 9, 1997, your very paper carried a large article (approximately 1/3 page) refuting the propaganda lie of "Soap from Jewish Fat" story. So why keep the agitation up?

You are not only falsely accusing the Germans of this barbaric, untrue act, you are also guilty of upsetting the members of the Jewish community who have no access to the information disproving this old lie spread by people like Simon Wiesenthal as long ago as 1946 in the Austrian community paper "Der neue Weg" (The New Path) in an article entitled R.I.F.

I once again fax you articles refuting and debunking this despicable lie - articles which appeared in, among other publications

- The Northern California Jewish Bulletin (April 27, 1990) by Hugh Orgel, originating with the Jewish Telegraphic Agency quoting Professor Yehuda Bauer, who was at the time head of the Hebrew University's Holocaust History Department -

- The Jerusalem Post, International Edition, May 5, 1990, in an article by Bull Hutman, entitled "Nazis never made human-fat soap" -

- A press release of mine, February 1995, sent to the Canadian media, explaining the background of the lie -

- A Reuters release which appeared in the Globe & Mail, (April 25, 1990, page A2) entitled "Human fat wasn't used by Nazis, Israel's Holocaust Museum says."

Do you realize I was dragged again before the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal for having published the debunking of this "soap from human corpses" lie by Jewish organizations? Do you realize that not only do I have to pay to defend myself against these spurious charges, but the Canadian tax payers will have to pay, for something long disproven? How long will your side keep this up?

Jewish Community leaders and mainstream Jewish organizations have hounded me mercilessly and dragged me through the courts for decades because of some slights or misquotes they have perceived in my writings allegedly affecting the Jewish community adversely. I hold you, as the largest Jewish community paper, to the same stringent standards from now on.

You have hurt the reputation and feelings of Germans with the repetition of this lie. It was and is known to you as a lie, as is apparent from your October 9, 1997 article.

I won't drag you into court at taxpayers' expense, and I won't drag you before a Human Rights Tribunal either. However, I expect that in the interest of community harmony, you publish an explanation, retraction and public apology to the German community.

The soap story is one propaganda lie of WWII we can safely bury! Now!

Then let's get on and deal with the rest of the other World War II propaganda lies, so that Germans and Jews may find the truth together - as in the days of old.
